Rev. Fr. Carlo Torriani PIME

Fr. Carlo Torriani is an Italian PIME  (pontifical institute for foreign missions) missionary, born in Sesto San Giovanni, Milano, 1935, September 4th. He was ordained priest in 1960. Soon after the ordination he was appointed as the first secretary of Mani Tese and freedom from Hunger Campaign Movement of Italy, 1964. Fr. Carlo came to India in 1969. As soon as he came to India,  he did licentiate in Theology (1970) in Pune and continued his studies in in Social Work in Mumbai TISS (1972). By looking at the miserable condition of the leprosy patients in the slums of Chunabatti, Fr. Carlo Torriani has started an organization called Lok Seva Sangam (which means an organization for the service of the people) together with Sr. Luigina Marchesi who has, already, been working with the leprosy patients, in Everard Nagar . In 1981 Fr. Torriani became the citizen of India. In 1983 founded Swarga Dwar at Rohinjan village.
